Mural FAQ
Project Planning & Process

How long does it take to complete a mural?
Most murals take 1-4 weeks to complete, depending on size and complexity. Small indoor murals (under 100 sq ft) typically take 3-7 days, while large outdoor murals can take 2-6 weeks. Weather conditions may extend outdoor project timelines. We'll provide a detailed timeline during your consultation.
What's included in your mural service?
Our full-service approach includes initial consultation, custom design concepts, all materials and supplies, surface preparation, painting, protective sealers, and final cleanup. You'll receive progress photos and a care guide for your finished mural.
Do you work indoors and outdoors?
Yes, we create murals for both interior and exterior spaces. We use specialized paints and techniques suited to each environment.
Design & Customization

Can you work with my ideas or do you only paint your own designs?
We love bringing your vision to life! Whether you have a detailed concept, reference images, or just a general idea, we'll collaborate to create a custom design that reflects your style and space. We provide 2-3 design concepts before starting the mural.
Can you paint my AI generated design?
No. All our murals are designed by hand and AI generated designs will not be considered for the final mockup.
What if I don't like the initial design concepts?
No worries! Each mural design comes with 2 revisions free of charge. We'll refine the design until you're completely satisfied before any painting begins. We start each design process with a moodboard phase to ensure we are on the same page about the direction of the mural and the intended impact.
Can you match my brand colors or existing decor?
Absolutely! We can color-match to specific brand guidelines, existing paint colors, or design elements in your space. Bring us paint samples, photos, or brand style guides and we'll ensure perfect harmony with your environment.
Pricing & Investment
How much does a mural cost?
Mural pricing starts at $5,000 and depends on complexity, location, and timeline. We provide detailed quotes after assessing your specific project and will generally give three different pricing options to allow you to choose the one that best fits your budget.
What factors affect the price?
Key factors include mural size, design complexity, surface condition, accessibility, timeline, and location (indoor vs outdoor). Additional costs may apply for extensive surface prep, equipment rental for high walls, or rush timelines.
Do you work with nonprofits and community organizations?
Absolutely! We're passionate about supporting community projects and understand that nonprofits often work with limited budgets. We offer flexible pricing for qualifying organizations and can help you identify grant opportunities, fundraising strategies, and phased project approaches. Many successful community murals have been funded through local arts grants, crowdfunding, or business sponsorships. Reach out to discuss your vision - we'll work together to make it happen.
Do you require payment upfront?
We typically request 50% down to begin design work and secure your project dates, with the balance due upon completion. We accept various payment methods and can discuss payment plans for larger projects.
Property & Practical Concerns
Will a mural damage my wall?
When properly executed, murals actually protect walls by adding an extra layer. We use appropriate primers and sealers that bond well without causing damage. If removal is ever needed, we use techniques that minimize wall impact.
Do you offer removable mural options?
Yes! For renters or those who want maximum flexibility, we offer freestanding murals or can create murals on removable materials like aluminum dibond panels. These options allow you to enjoy a custom mural without permanent wall changes. Removable murals can be taken with you when you move or easily updated. While slightly more expensive than traditional wall murals, they're perfect for temporary spaces or strict property guidelines.
How do I maintain my mural?
Murals don't require much! Indoor murals may need gentle cleaning every few years, while outdoor murals benefit from annual inspection. On outdoor murals we strictly use UV resistant paint to prevent color fading. We provide specific care instructions and offer touch-up & maintenance services if needed.
Can you minimize disruption to my business during painting?
Absolutely! For businesses that can't afford downtime - like restaurants, retail stores, or medical offices - we can create your mural offsite using Polytab or dibond panels. We paint in our studio, then install the finished panels during a brief appointment (usually 1-2 days depending on wall size). This eliminates dust, fumes, and foot traffic disruption while you stay fully operational.
Community Engagement

Do you involve the community in mural projects?
Yes! For public and community projects, we often hold design workshops, community input sessions, or painting days where residents can participate. This collaborative approach ensures the mural reflects local culture, history, and values while building excitement and ownership around the project.
Can community members help paint the mural?
Absolutely! Community paint days are some of our favorite experiences. We design sections that are perfect for volunteer painters of all skill levels, provide guidance and supplies, and make it a fun, memorable event. It's a great way to build community connections and create lasting pride in the finished artwork.
Do you work with schools and youth programs?
Yes! Educational mural projects are incredibly rewarding. We can incorporate art lessons, historical research, or environmental themes into the process. Students often participate in design brainstorming, learn about mural techniques, and contribute to the painting under professional guidance. These projects create powerful learning experiences while beautifying school spaces.
Booking & Availability
How far in advance should I book?
We recommend booking 4-8 weeks in advance for murals local to the Boston area and 6-10 weeks for murals elsewhere, especially during peak seasons (spring and fall for outdoor work). Rush projects may be possible depending on availability and may include expedited service fees.
What areas do you serve?
We're willing to travel anywhere for the right project! While we're based in Boston, we've completed murals across the country. Travel and accommodation costs are factored into projects outside our local area, but we love the adventure of new locations and bringing art to communities everywhere. Distance is never a barrier - let's discuss your project!
What happens if weather delays my outdoor mural?
Weather delays are always factored into outdoor project timelines. We monitor forecasts closely and will reschedule as needed at no additional cost.
Getting Started

How do I get a quote for my mural project?
Simply contact us with your project details. We'll schedule a consultation to assess the space and provide a detailed quote within 2-3 business days.
What should I prepare before our consultation?
Take some photos of and measure the wall space, consider your ideal timeline, and bring inspiration or style images if you have a specific idea in mind already! If it's a commercial space, consider your brand guidelines and target audience, as well as what you are hoping to achieve with the mural.
