Problem
Blend is a Queer owned bar & restaurant located in Dorchester, MA. I was sitting at the bar one day and ordered a drink from a wall menu. When I was told that the drink was no longer available, I asked if they were looking for someone to update their board, and the partnership was born! The owners had recently taken over the business and were looking for ways to elevate the space, improve their branding, and make it their own- the timing couldn't have been more perfect!
Solution
I partnered with Luis & James to create a number of smaller pieces inside and outside the bar. These pieces ranged from signage and menu boards, internal murals, and external activations. In addition to the installations, I assisted them with branding by creating designs for their new hat & shirt merch lines to further improve brand visibility!

The Process
Consultation and Concept
Working area by area, we started by identifying areas of need around the bar and brainstorming ideas. With a long list of potential ideas and activations, we created an order of priorities which considered the most necessary items for brand visibility and best allocation of the budget.
Design Refinement
For each install, I created a concept mockup which we then reviewed together. Following approval, I got to work while the bar was closed bringing each mockup to life!
The Results
The increased outdoor visibility of the signage has increased foot traffic and food and beverage sales, and areas of brick, concrete, and flat black paint have been brightened with color and personality to emphasize the unique energy and passion of the bar and its owners.
